Italian composer and pianist Nicola Piovani, born in 1946, studied at Sapienza University in Rome and the Verdi Conservatoire in Milan. His whole life is mainly devoted to film and stage music. He is appreciated for his collaboration with the greatest legends of world cinema, such as the Tavian brothers, Roberto Benigni, Federico Fellini, Danièle Thompson, Philippe Lioret, or Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt. For his cooperation with French directors, he was even appointed by the French Minister of Culture as a knight (Chevalier) at the Cannes Film Festival 2008.

For the music of the film Life is Beautiful, he won the Oscar in 1998, and in 2000 he was also nominated for the Grammy Award for the same composition.

At present, besides the film concert projects, he also devotes himself to the music of scenic and orchestral works.
