Punk legend and former Sex Pistols frontman, singer John Lydon, is bringing his band Public Image Ltd. (PiL) to the SaSaZu club in Prague.
After John Lydon, also known as Johnny Rotten, fronted the Sex Pistols, he formed the post-punk group PiL. This band is widely considered one of the most innovative groups of all time, and their music and vision have earned them 5 singles and 5 albums in the UK Top 20.
With a shifting line-up and a unique sound—a fusion of rock, dance, folk, pop, and dub—Lydon led the band from their debut album First Issue (1978) up to the record That What Is Not (1992), before a seventeen-year hiatus. Lydon reactivated PiL in 2009, toured extensively, and released three critically acclaimed albums: This is PiL (2012), What The World Needs Now… (2015), and End of World (2023).
The current PiL tour for 2025 comes after Lydon thought the band might not need to tour anymore. His lifelong friend and manager John Rambo Stevens suddenly died after the last PiL tour in December 2023, shortly after the death of Lydon's wife Nora in April 2023.
Lydon believed this might be the end of his touring days. However, when he embarked on a "spoken word" tour across the UK this spring, he was overwhelmed by the love and support from the fans.
Lydon commented on the situation: “I thought that might be it. After losing Nora and Rambo, I couldn’t see a way forward. I had already committed to the ‘spoken word’ tour that happened this spring, and I’ve never let anyone down—I always stick to my word—so I had to go through with those tours. The thing is, people were so overwhelmingly positive and asked me to tour with PiL again. With so many people asking, and with so many words about how much the band meant to them, I couldn’t just sit on the sofa and not go on tour—even though that is tempting, of course.”
