World-Renowned Guitar Virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel to Celebrate His 70th Birthday with a Concert at Prague Castle
The Spanish Hall of Prague Castle, a place steeped in historical significance and a symbol of Czech statehood, will host an extraordinary event on November 23. The phenomenal Australian guitarist Tommy Emmanuel C.G.P. will celebrate his 70th birthday at this venue with a unique performance. He will be joined by a special guest, the talented British guitarist Mike Dawes.
“It is a great honor for us and for Prague that the world-famous guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel will celebrate his 70th birthday here with a truly exceptional concert. This remarkable artist loves Czech music, admires Prague, and is fascinated by places associated with W.A. Mozart. He would like to dedicate a truly special performance to Prague in a truly extraordinary setting,” says David Gaydečka on behalf of the music club Doupě and the Metronome Prague festival, who are organizing the event.
At the concert, which promises to be a uniquely personal experience, Emmanuel will showcase his unmatched ability to substitute for an entire band. Fans can look forward to a cross-section of his rich career, including classic tracks such as “Tall Fiddler,” “Mombasa,” and “Country Wide,” newer fan favorites like “Fuel” and “Sail On,” and of course, his iconic arrangements of “Classical Gas” and the thrilling “Beatles Medley.”
The special guest of the evening will be guitar virtuoso Mike Dawes, known as a master of the acoustic guitar with a unique style that blends fingerstyle techniques with a modern approach. His music is full of remarkable harmonies and rhythms, making him the perfect partner for Tommy Emmanuel. The pairing of these two guitar titans in the Spanish Hall guarantees an unforgettable musical evening.
